I just dislike reading this book
I just dislike reading this book. The story is cute, my son enjoys it. He likes to act out the different pages. My struggle comes with having to say nut brown hair a billion times. Its awkward and just messes with the flow of the story. Wouldnt it have been just as great of a story by saying "Little Hare" and "Big Hare"?
My 4 month old son loves it!
I bought this for my 4 month old son to read with his dad, but I thought of bringing this to his photoshoot for his Easter pics. I'm glad I did!
THIS IS A BOARD BOOK! Not THE HARDCOVER VERSION!
It is a small “board book”. Not what I was expecting (the normal hardcover book). An expectant Mom put this on her registry and asked for her baby shower guests to write a note in the inside face page inside. Well, there is NO facepage inside being that this is a “Board Book”. I shall have to sort that out; perhaps leave a separate note inside on a card. Disappointed - but the small BOARD BOOK DID arrive in perfect shape and time.
Fantastic gift idea for new baby
I have very fond memories of my parents reading me this board book as a young child, and so I bought this as a gift for a co-worker who was expecting a baby. The shipping speed and quality of the board book was great, and he was very happy with the gift. I'm now expecting a baby myself, and plan on buying a second copy for my own child.
Too small but good quality and good read
Used it for my maternity photography , too small
Misses the mark for us
We got rid of this book after reading it only a time or two. Although we understand the book's message is intended to be about how much these two hares love each other, it comes across more strongly to us as a parent/older hare continually one-upping the younger hare and that doesn't sit well with us.
Bought based on reviews, awkward read
I bought this based on the high number of positive reviews but I honestly can't recommend this book. The story is very annoying to read as the characters are referred to as "Little Nutbrown Hare" and "Big Nutbrown Hare" on every page - it doesn't roll off the tongue easily and gets exhausting to say it. The pictures are very muted in color so it is not very exciting to look at the book. The story itself is not great as it seems like Big Nutbrown Hare is always trying to outdo or one-up the Little Nutbrown Hare's declarations of love.
Loved by my ESL students
Since I teach kids in China, it's usually bedtime for my littles. I love to read this book to them and tell them Good-night. Depending on their level, we have fun talking about it, too. Great way to explain some vocabulary, such as "hare."
Waste of money!!
Book arrived damaged.
one of the best childrens' books ever written...
little nutbrown hare, enjoying a ride on his papa's back, wants to be sure that his father is listening - so he says, "guess how much i love you!" the result is a sweet, lighthearted, loving banter as father and son strive to describe the size of their love for each other - thinking bigger and bigger as the book goes on! i LOVE this book. my 3 year old requests it before each nap and before bedtime - he loves reading about big & little's adventures in describing their love the rhythm of the book is beautiful and charming, and the illustrations perfectly match the sweet disposition of the book. the person who gave this book one star completely missed the point of the book. it's not about "competition" - the father and son bounce off of each other and encourage each other to be increasingly imaginative. big nutbrown hare is quietly amazed by his son's big thinking and his counter is very very sweet. wow. don't base your purchase off of that crappy review.
